Isabella van Elferen is assistant professor of Music and New Media at the Department of Media and Culture Studies of Utrecht University. She has published widely on German Baroque music, film and TV music, videogame music, mobile phone ringtones, and Gothic theory and subcultures. She is the author of Mystical Love in the German Baroque: Theology – Poetry – Music and the editor of Nostalgia or Perversion? Gothic Rewriting from the Eighteenth Century until the Present Day. Her new book Gothic Music: The Sounds of the Uncanny is to appear in 2012.
